“Twists, tension, and a race for the truth—unforgettable from page one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely loved this story. This latest Carolyn Ryder thriller stands out as one of the best yet. I couldn’t put it down—every spare moment was spent gripping my Kindle, desperate to uncover what happens next in A Forgotten Kill. It’s a gripping tale of a mother’s fierce love for her daughter and one woman’s relentless pursuit of the truth—no matter the cost. If you’re craving a tense, bone-chilling crime thriller, A Forgotten Kill is a must-read. You won’t be disappointed. Five stars from me!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Mysterious! Another great book by this author! This is a mysterious story in the Erin’s Bay series but off of the regular path, and into the unknown woods. Scenery is wonderfully described so that I feel like I am right there with the characters. There are nice plots twists throughout the book. I look forward to more in this series and by JK Ellem.”

“Carolyn is in trouble…. Quite a different type of story this time and the text goes back and forth from the present to the past. Very interesting!!! Carolyn has herself in a difficult position this time. Takes up right where the previous book left off. Follow the sag and read this!!”

“I always enjoy books in this series by JK Ellem and this is book 8 in the popular series featuring Carolyn Ryder, which is a good steady read. This one finds Carolyn going off on her own searching for a missing woman from 20 years ago. She certainly has bitten off more than she bargained for in this latest episode as she follows a trail which leads her further into the woods! I liked the plotting, which takes place over a 3-day period and the characters certainly left me with goosebumps! Another good addition to the popular series.”

- “You’d think an ex-FBI agent would know better than to walk straight into a trap—but that’s what makes Carolyn Ryder so compelling. She has to know. What happened to that young mother? Why here? Why now? Every chapter peels back a new layer of horror, and by the time you think you’ve figured it out, the story shoves you off a cliff. This is the kind of thriller you finish at 2am with your heart pounding.”

“I’ve read a lot of thrillers this year, but few have grabbed me like this one. The cold case element immediately pulled me in, and Carolyn Ryder—ex-FBI, now chasing ghosts—is the perfect guide through this twisted, slow-burning nightmare. JK captures the weight of unresolved cases and how they echo through the years. Every clue uncovered feels dangerous. Every silence hides something sinister. The writing is atmospheric without being overwrought, and the plot twists hit with precision. As an ARC reader, I can confidently say: this one is going to blow up when it’s released.”

“I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of this cold case thriller, and it did not disappoint. Carolyn Ryder, a former FBI agent, is the kind of lead I love—smart, seasoned, and quietly haunted by the things she’s seen. The moment she steps into those woods, following the trail of a woman who vanished 20 years earlier, the story grips you like a vice. What starts as a methodical investigation spirals into something far darker and more dangerous. Atmospheric, unpredictable, and loaded with tension, this is a standout in the genre. Easily one of the best crime thrillers I’ve read all year.”

“Getting an early look at this book felt like uncovering a secret—and what a dark, gripping secret it is. The writing is confident, cinematic, and completely absorbing. Carolyn Ryder doesn’t just investigate a cold case—she walks straight into a nightmare. I loved that this didn’t rely on tropes; it felt fresh, clever, and deeply unsettling. I’ve read a lot of thrillers this year, but this one sticks with you. Especially that last twist. Chilling and brilliant.”
